Community quotes

Understanding vaccination uptake, acceptance, hesitancy, and resistance is critical to overcoming barriers that prevent people from getting a COVID-19 vaccination. Out Boulder County is reaching to LGBTQ+ and BIPOC individuals to understand and address their concerns. We appreciate Out Boulder County’s proactive outreach in engaging these community members. It will take all of us working together to end the pandemic and that includes listening and obtaining feedback from our entire community.
— Rachel Powell, Senior Program Manager, CDC Foundation

Out Boulder County’s deep commitment to championing and responding to LQBTQ youth is tremendous.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, it’s critically important to listen to youth and to learn from them. We need to respond to the economic and mental health toll it has had on them and respond to the intersections of identities that create a diverse array of concerns about vaccines, including questions and concerns about side effects, costs, accessibility and the overlay of caregiver support or lack thereof.

This data and the insights gained, developed by and for youth within a community-led organization like Out Boulder County, can help so many communities better reach and care for LGBTQ youth and promote COVID-19 vaccine equity.
