Help Us Continue Our Marshall Fire Direct Aid Fund

By Michal Duffy

Thank you for contributing to our community’s mutual aid in response to the devastating Marshall Fire. So far, we have distributed $18,430 (the full fund amount as of the morning of Jan 31) to 11 directly impacted individuals and families, and we are still accepting donations for more impact. Some individuals have been evacuated long-term and are faced with unexpected lodging and food expenses, several have had their income and ability to work impacted, many face severe smoke and ash damage, and several have lost their homes.

We brought together a volunteer review committee of diverse individuals close to the situation to review applications anonymously. Award amounts were allocated based on how applicants were impacted, federal poverty guidelines, and personal situations. Award letters went out on Monday, January 31, and payments are actively being made.

We are grateful for all the donors who have made this fund possible!

We now have an anonymous matching gift possibility of $5000 to continue this fund thanks to a generous donor. We ask for your help to meet this match so we can offer more support to our community members who have been so gravely impacted by this disaster.

Applications to receive funding are still open to LGBTQ individuals and families who have been directly impacted by the Marshall Fire. You can also recommend LGBTQ+ community members you know who have been impacted by the fire.
