Sunday Kiki Sessions

In honor of Ballroom, Out Boulder County, in collaboration with the Kiki House of Majik, is hosting Kiki Sessions every 1st & 3rd Sundays of the month from 1-4 pm at our Equality Center of the Rocky Mountains! It is FREE and open to all identities and ages. 💯💯💯

What is a Kiki Session? Kiki Sessions are spaces for people involved in Ballroom, or hoping to be involved, to come practice their skills depending on the categories they "walk" (or participate) in. These categories can range from Runway, to Face, Performance, etc. It is a communal space meant to build solidarity and get prepared for "walking" in future Balls. As a communal effort, the "elders," or more experienced members of the community, will take a position of leadership to assist the newer faces in developing their skills. 💃🏾👯🏿‍♂️💅🏿

Wanna learn how to WALK the runway and VOGUE the House down from alocal Kiki ballroom house? Come to Out Boulder this month on the 16th! Classes are drop-in; no RSVP required. 🧚‍♀️🌟🧚‍♀️🌟

Boulder County Gender Support

Gender Support groups are open to anyone who has a gender expansive identity including transgender, genderqueer, gender fluid, agender, non-binary, and intersex people. We also support people who are questioning their identity and people who don't want to label themselves yet (or at all).

Attending the group is free and we have trained, dedicated transgender facilitators. All we ask is that you fill out a quick survey when you first come and follow our Support Group Rules.

Boulder County Gender Support (BCGS) is one of the longest-standing programs at Out Boulder County (OBC). This group offers peer-support for transgender and gender expansive identities including transgender, genderqueer, gender fluid, agender, non-binary, and intersex people; those who are questioning their gender are also invited to attend. Peer-support groups serve as a source of understanding, strength, and reflection for many community members, but they are not therapy. Facilitators meet monthly with a Therapist Advisor who offers support and insight on facilitation and group dynamics. Groups are facilitated by a minimum of two facilitators per meeting. Facilitators must complete annual Facilitation and Diversity & Inclusion trainings, arranged by OBC.

Thanks to funding from Boulder County and the City of Boulder, OBC is now able to pay facilitators a stipend for their time and efforts. We deeply appreciate the invaluable contributions of our volunteer facilitators over the many years, and are happy to finally be able to support facilitator sustainability with pay. If you identify under the trans and gender-expansive umbrella(s) and are interested in joining the facilitator team, please review the Job Description and complete the BCGS Facilitator Application.
