Spring Youth Interns

OBC’s Annual Paid Youth Internship Program

Every year, OBC hires two cohorts of LGBTQ youth between the ages of 13-18 to plan our two biggest community youth events- Night of Noise and our LGBTQ Youth Dance! Each youth intern cohort team is made up of 3 paid youth and sometimes other youth who get school credit for participating as well. Learn more about our two internship cohorts below.

  • Atiya (she/her/hers)

    Atiya (she/her/hers)

I wanted to work with Out Boulder County to take leadership in my community. I love community work and working with other passionate youth. I've never been involved with Out Boulder County and I'm excited to learn through this internship. I am a first generation Pakistani-American and I want to bring more youth of color into queer spaces. I also love speech and debate and I run an environmental justice club at my high school. I've worked with Community Foundation's Youth Roots program learning about philanthropy and working with nonprofits in my community. I figure skate and do yoga to keep my mind and body healthy. I absolutely love going to concerts and art museums. I'm really excited to work on Night of Noise this year!

  • Jaziel (He/Him/His)

He wanted to get the job to be able to gain leadership experience and to be more involved in his community. Jaziel is a very passionate person when it comes to human rights and social justice. Some of his favorite pastimes are going on nature walks and painting. He also is very creative and enjoys art!

  • Jay (any pronouns)

    Jay (any pronouns)

Though she hasn’t yet been involved with OBC, she looks forward to getting to impact her communities for the better; while getting to learn more about leadership positions and organization through real-world instances. Additionally, they’re excited to meet their fellow interns, OBC staff, and build new relationships! Outside of the internship, they love to roller-skate, play guitar, listen to terrible folk-punk, and spend time with their friends. They volunteer with Sandstone Ranch Visitors Center, the Unitarian Universalist Church of Boulder, and look forward to seeing what other interesting things they may stumble across over the next year!

  • Violet

    Violet (they/them)

My name is Violet, my pronouns are they/them. I haven’t had any previous involvement with OBC, but I hope this is just the beginning of my partnership with this wonderful program! I wanted this internship so I could connect more with the LGBTQ community, and help plan a night where all identities get to feel safe and shine! I’m thrilled about this opportunity because I believe that many individuals will benefit from the NON, and that in turn makes me happy! At school, I’m one of the heads of our GSAA, and have helped organize bake sales, events, and lectures about the community. Outside of school, I’m a filmmaker, and I’ve embarked on many projects that highlight social issues within the LGBTQ community, and the world as a whole!
