Resource Providers & Agencies
Transgender, genderqueer, gender non-conforming, and gender fluid people have unique challenges to accessing resources in the community. This is a list of providers and agencies that have been identified as trans friendly by members of the Boulder County community.
For medical resources and reviews of medical and mental health professionals, check out transhealthbouldercounty.org.
If you would like to be considered for this list, please email cprohaska@outboulder.org or call 303.499.5777. We have chosen to focus on resources only available in the Boulder County area, but statewide resources with 24-hour hotlines or other services may be listed as well.

All Gender Restrooms
Refuge Restrooms - REFUGE is a web application that seeks to provide safe restroom access for transgender, intersex, and gender nonconforming individuals. Users can search for restrooms by proximity to a search location, add new restroom listings, as well as comment and rate existing listings. They seek to create a community focused not only on finding existing safe restroom access but also looking forward and participating in restroom advocacy for transgender, intersex, and gender nonconforming folk.
If you would like to access this resource, please follow the link above that will take you to their main website. Refuge Restrooms also has apps on the Google Play Store and Apple Store.

Sharps Disposal
Disposal Info Sheet - For folks who take injectable forms of Hormone Replacement Therapy, you may have wondered what to do with the used syringes. Here is some information on how to dispose of your used syringes.
Home Disposal of Syringes
You can prevent contamination of our waterways by safely disposing of syringes at home, using a needle exchange program, or via a syringe disposal company.
Place sharps in a strong plastic bottle (e.g. bleach, liquid detergent) or metal container with a screw-on or tightly secured lid to prevent accidental contact with the waste.
Secure lid with duct tape.
Place sealed container in your regular trash.
Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
The Hazardous Materials Management Facility (HMMF) is currently accepting sharps from Boulder County, City and County of Broomfield, and Town of Erie residents free of charge during normal hours of operation
Sharps are NOT accepted by recycling programs. Do not put sharps in with the recycling, even if the container you use to seal them is recyclable, as this puts staff at the recycling center at risk.

Organizations and Support Groups
Transformative Freedom Fund's mission is to support the authentic selves of transgender Coloradans by removing financial barriers to transitions related healthcare. Our application cycle is open January 1-April 1 of each year. We make funding decisions by June 15th of each year, and can start funding for that cycle immediately after an application is approved. We will fund any physical transition related healthcare from surgery, to hormones, office visits, electrolysis or laser hair removal, etc. for individuals who identify as transgender, gender nonconforming, non binary, gender queer, anyone who does not identify as cisgender. We do not currently provide financial support for mental health, but are more than happy to provide referrals for free or sliding scale options when available. We pay providers directly 100% of the time. Our priority areas for funding are trans women of color, older adults (60 and older), youth (up to 24), and folks facing significant safety concerns (living in rural areas, lack of consistent support systems, etc.). We do not require parental approval to fund youth, regardless of age, but will not provide payment to providers who are not reputable and licensed. Folks can apply every year for ongoing treatment needs, and are encouraged to apply again the following cycle if their application is not approved. We would love to be able to meet all the needs of our community, but unfortunately that is not a reality for us. At least not yet. If an individuals application is approved for surgery, but there is a waitlist that does not allow that individual to have surgery during that funding cycle, their approved amount will be held for them until their surgery date, or until they inform us that they no longer need the funds. We are always more than happy to answer any and all questions. Our email address is info@transformativefreedomfund.org and our website it transformativefreedomfund.org
You can also fund us on Twitter (@tffund), Instagram (@tffund), and on Facebook.
